DRYLOK®
MASONRY TREATMENT
DRYLOK® Masonry Treatment penetrates deep to seal and protect masonry
against acids, alkalis, household cleaners, gasoline, oil and salt.
This VOC compliant, water base formula seals
against dusting and retards spalling (surface cracking and pock marking)
and weathering.
•A
protective coating for masonry surfaces
•Prevents moisture damage, stops excessive dusting
•For brick, terrazzo, slate, concrete and other masonry surfaces
•Excellent primer for latex paint
•Application tools clean up with soap and water
DESCRIPTION
DRYLOK Masonry Treatment is a waterborne acrylic product that protects
interior and exterior masonry surfaces from corrosive liquids and weathering.
DRYLOK Masonry Treatment can also be used a primer for latex paint.
As A Sealer: DRYLOK Masonry Treatment penetrates deep to seal and protect
masonry against acids, alkalis, household cleaners, gasoline, oil and
salt. It also seals against dusting and retards spalling (surface cracking
and pockmarking) and weathering. Treats chalking masonry paint, porous
asbestos siding, sandblasted masonry and powdering mortar, before applying
a latex paint.
As a Concrete Curing Membrane: When applied to freshly poured concrete,
after the surface has set and excess water has been removed, DRYLOK
Masonry Treatment will control water evaporation resulting in maximum
concrete hardness. Allow 28 days before applying subsequent coatings.
SURFACE
PREP
Remove all dirt, wax, dust, mildew, and loose or scaling material
with a scraper, wire brush or stiff bristle brush. Grease and oil should
be removed by scrubbing with a detergent in warm water. Rinse surface
with clean water. Efflorescence (saltlike deposits) should be removed
with DRYLOK Etch or Muriatic Acid according to manufacturer’s
directions, then rinsed thoroughly with clean water. Cracks and holes
should be filled with DRYLOK Concrete Patch.
APPLICATION
Apply only when surface temperature is above 40°F.
Apply full strength with brush, pad applicator, garden sprayer or squeegee.
Spread evenly - do not allow puddles or a heavy surface film to occur.
One coat is generally sufficient for most surfaces. If a second coat
is required (extremely porous surfaces) allow 6 hours between coats.
Additional coats will cause surface to be slippery when wet.
On light-colored surfaces, some darkening may take place; test in an
inconspicuous area to be sure darkening does not occur. May be applied
to surfaces previously coated with a similar treatment. For best results,
test a small area for proper adhesion prior to coating entire surface.
THINNING
When applied over flagstone, slate, terrazzo or dense, smooth concrete,
thin DRYLOK Masonry Treatment with equal parts of clean, lukewarm water.
In addition, light colored concrete may darken unevenly due to variations
in porosity. To minimize color variations, thin with water 1 to 1 and
test on small area to see final effect.
USED
AS A PRIMER
DRYLOK Masonry Treatment will solidify the surface for painting when applied
over powdery surfaces such as chalking masonry paint, porous asbestos
siding, sand blasted masonry and powdering mortar. It is also ideal for
use as a PRIMER-SEALER under latex, alkyd or polyurethane concrete floor
paints or carpeting. For self adhesive floor tiles, check with tile manufacturer
for adhesion compatibility.
DRYING
Allow 6 hours before subjecting to light foot traffic and 24 hours before
subjecting to heavy traffic. During periods of high humidity and/or cool
temperatures, allow 24 hours before subjecting to light foot traffic.
COVERAGE
One gallon of DRYLOK Masonry Treatment will cover up to 400 square feet
depending on surface porosity.
CLEAN-UP
Clean tools with soap and water.
MAINTENANCE
None required. Because DRYLOK Masonry Treatment prevents the
penetration of dirt, moisture, etc., coated surfaces are easy to clean. |
