DESCRIPTION
UGL Glazol Painter’s Putty is a ready -to-use, smooth, easy-working
formula designed specifically for professional painters.
For interior or exterior applications on old and new wood surfaces and
on drywall. Use Glazol Painter’s Putty to fill small cracks, patch
nail holes, countersunk primed nail heads, shallow hammer marks and
other minor defacements on a variety of surfaces. Perfect for use on
windowsills, wood decks, wooden steps and woodwork. Glazol may also
be used to glaze wooden window sashes. It forms a perfect cushion against
shock and vibration when used in replacing broken glass. Glazol Painter’s
Putty does not contain water
to stay fresh so rust will not form on nail heads or in the can. Glazol
Painter’s putty remains pliable-does not chip or crack and has
year-round workability.
SURFACE
PREP
For use as a Wood Filler Be sure surface is firm, clean and
dry. Remove all dirt, dust, grease, oil, mildew, wax and loose material.
Sand glossy painted surfaces to improve adhesion. New or unpainted wood
must be primed. APPLICATION: Air and surface temperature should be above
40°F. Place Glazol Painter’s Putty in hands, roll to warm
and soften and form the shape of a point. Press Glazol onto surface
with finger or thumb. Smooth Glazol with a clean putty knife while wet.
When properly applied, the patch should be filled to the surface around
it, eliminating the need to sand. Glazol Painter’s Putty should
be primed and painted after it is applied to maintain durability. For
use as a Glazing Compound Surface must be clean and dry. Remove all
old putty and bedding. Air and surface temperature should be above 40°F.
For best results surface should be primed with a quality wood primer.
APPLICATION: Place Glazol Painter’s Putty in hands and roll to
warm and soften. Apply a thin layer to backstop of sash filling height
and width of L-shaped recess completely. Press glass firmly in place.
Install glazier’s points to hold glass in place. Smooth Glazol
Painter’s Putty to an angle that sheds rain and glaze corners
to a round finish. Glazol Painter’s Putty should be primed and
painted after it is applied to maintain durability. NOTE: Glazol Painter’s
Putty is not for use on any surface other than wood. Do not use on insulated
glass units with an organic seal, plastic window panes or any window
pane over 48” in any direction.
DRYING
Allow
Glazol Painter’s Putty to dry to form a protective skin (top drying)
for a firm set. Surface drying of the Glazol Painter’s Putty may
be slowed by cold, damp weather, and by the size and depth of the fill/
patch. Allow to dry overnight before painting with oil base paint and
24 hours before applying a latex paint.
