          Uses:
          Cabot® Problem-Solver® Primer is a solvent-based, exterior primer
specially designed to provide maximum performance through a faster drying
and higher-hiding formulation. In addition to superior resistance to
extractive bleeding and moisture problems, this 100% alkyd primer dries
in a fraction of time compared to traditional linseed oil-based primers
and facilitates the application of a quality finish coat within just
a few hours. Cabot Problem-Solver Primer makes an ideal base coat for
all types of solid stains and paints and will yield outstanding results
on siding, shingles, plywood, and on both smooth or rough-sawn surfaces.
It is also suited for application over previously oil-based stained
or painted surfaces. Cabot Problem-Solver Primer is recommended for
use on extractive-prone wood species such as red cedar, redwood, mahogany
and fir. It is also excellent when applied to pine, cypress, spruce,
and even pressure-treated wood. This product has exceptional adhesive
properties and can be applied immediately to new, dry, unseasoned, mill-glazed
          (smooth) siding.
        Composition:
          Richly-pigmented, penetrating solvent-based primer.
        Finish:
Dries to a uniform flat finish.
        Coverage:
On smooth surfaces, approximately 400-500 square feet per gallon (9.81-12.27
square meters per liter); on rough surfaces, 150-250 square feet per
gallon (3.68-6.14 square meters per liter). These rates will vary depending
upon the porosity of the surface.
        Restrictions:
Do not use Neutral Base Primer #8516 without tinting with compatible
universal colorants. Do not apply in direct sunlight, to hot surfaces,
or when air or surface temperature is below 45°F (7°C) or may
fall below 45°F (7°C) for 24 hours after application. Do not
apply over wet or damp surfaces or when rain is imminent. Cabot Problem-Solver
Primers may not fully prevent all extractive bleeding in woods with
unusually high moisture and tannic acid levels. Knots should be sealed
with a high-quality knot sealer. Do not use next to fresh stucco or
other masonry surfaces. Do not thin this product. Not intended for interior
          surfaces. For exterior use only.
