MODERN
MASTERS MASTERCLEAR SATIN CLEAR TOPCOATS are especially formulated as
non-yellowing topcoats for Modern Masters Metallic Paint Collection
paints to help protect and preserve the color and shimmer of the Metallic
Paints when applied to either interior or exterior surfaces. The aliphatic
nature of the polyurethane-acrylic copolymer when combined with the
UV absorbers and inhibitors provides the highest resistance possible
to damaging ultra-violet radiation. The inherent high abrasion resistance
of the aliphatic polyurethane-acrylic copolymer also extends the service
life of MasterClear Clear Topcoats. MasterClear Satin (ME664) is particularly
suited for the lower-gloss colors of the Metallic Paint Collection paints.
        PRODUCT
          DESCRIPTION:
Modern Masters MasterClear Satin Interior/Exterior Clear Topcoats are
translucent water-based liquid dispersions of a self-crosslinking (no
activator needed) aliphatic (non-yellowing) polyurethane-acrylic copolymer.
MasterClear Clear Topcoats are formulated with UV absorbers and inhibitors,
mar and slip aids, wetting and rheology modifying agents to create the
best possible protection for Metallic Paint Collection paints.
        SURFACE
          PREPARATION:
Before applying MasterClear Clear Topcoats, the previously coated surface
must be completely clean, dry, and fully cured. Remember that MasterClear
Clear Topcoats will not conceal any surface blemishes or imperfections,
so carefully prepare the surface beforehand. If applying MasterClear
Clear Topcoats over something other than Metallic Paint Collection paints,
test a small sample area to ensure the desired results.
        APPLICATION:
Modern Masters MasterClear Clear Topcoats can be brush, roll, or spray
applied. For best protection, apply a minimum of two coats for interior
applications and a minimum of three coats for exterior applications.
Allow two hours between coats and a minimum of 24 hours for full cure
before use. For best results, do not apply in temperatures below 50°F
(10°C) or in humidities above 50%RH. Lower temperatures and higher
humidities will lengthen the dry and cure times. Stir before use; do
          not shake.

          Brushing:
Use a use a high-quality synthetic bristle brush recommended for water-based
          semigloss paints.

          Rolling:
Use a high-quality short nap varnish roller.

          Spraying:
Use an HVLP spray gun in combination with an air compressor. Important.Note:
Do not use turbine-type “air compressors” to power the HVLP
spray gun; do not use other types of spray guns (e.g. airless spray
guns). Air pressure at the HVLP spray gun needs to be approximately
65 psi, with greater pressures in the tank. Thinning is not usually
required; however, MasterClear Clear Topcoats may be thinned for spraying
by adding up to 10% water by volume. Thin carefully, as over thinning
of the paint may result in a loss of rheology and a reduction of the
desired protection. When spraying, be sure to use a properly fitting
          NIOSH approved breathing mask.
        Coverage:
One gallon will cover approximately 300 to 400 square feet.
